This Swine Life: Hog Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Leader.

While perhaps not at the same level as sparing festive fowl, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a ceremonial pardon event this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the onset of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “May this pig enjoy a long and happy life free from concern.”

The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the local cultural practice of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, contributed by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the current slang trend of young people exclaiming “6-7” – inspired by a hip-hop line – often seemingly at random. The craze became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently made “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Peaceful Retirement

This particular pig is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The pig pardon has become a cherished method to kick off the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a decidedly positive message.

“It captures the essence of Miami: happy, multicultural, and grounded in customs that bring people together. Each year, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Attendees enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and cafecito as they celebrated the pig's pardon.
