The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Chose the Incorrect Critical Role Song
This latest animated series, the most recent animated series by Critical Role, unveiled a new opening credits. It showcases our favorite group of outcasts, outcasts, and criminals fighting hard and taking names, while also hinting at multiple heart-wrenching backstories for characters including the voice actor's mage Caleb, and Travis Willingham's warlock orc, the character Fjord.
All in all, the opening appears amazing. But I couldn't help feeling that an element was lost in the song choice.
This sequence employs "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional composition composed by artist the talented musician. It's a track originating from the soundtrack album of the same name, the second release released by the production company's music division their music brand. It's a great sentimental option, and I suspect that fans of the sequel series will love its inclusion.
Personally, The series' intro doesn't quite capture the hype and energy that was part of the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", composed by musician Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic for me when it was first revealed in that year, and it only got better when co-founder Sam Riegel wrote words to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.
Featuring vocals from one actress, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as the writer, the track was catchy and fun. Back then, I hadn't seen the second campaign at that point, but this was such an earworm that I kept it on my device. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an installment of fantasy hijinks.
The show's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the same chords for me. It's an impressive piece of music, but from what I know of the group, I feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched.
Of course, Critical Role has already said that the animated show will have a few changes and differences from the actual-play campaign. A tonal change for its intro appears as among these.
The Mighty Nein will be available to watch on Prime Video from November 19. For those eager before that, or wish to prepare to get to know the characters of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the original episodes are accessible on the audio platform and the video site.
