Six Suspects Apprehended Following €12 Million Robbery on Precious Metals Facility in France

A group of six individuals carrying high-powered firearms employed explosives to breach the security of a gold treatment facility located in the city of Lyon, causing light wounds to five employees during what appears to be the latest high-profile daytime heist to occur in France.

The daring raid took place on the afternoon of Thursday, with police forces rapidly detaining the alleged criminals and securing the stolen items assessed at around €12 million (£10.5M), according to officials.

Five staff members of Laboratoires Pourquery received light wounds due to the explosion, and three employees were taken to a medical facility for examination, officials confirmed. A total of twenty-eight staff were present on-site when the robbers attacked.

The individuals, considered career criminals, were arrested a brief time later in the nearby town of the town of Vénissieux, according to investigative sources.

A female participant who took part in the robbery was likewise arrested, according to law enforcement.

“Six suspects who used detonations in a raid against a gold refining facility in Lyon were arrested at the scene,” the French interior minister declared on social media, lauding police for their “decisiveness, speed and control”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were also confiscated.

The raid happened as law enforcement in France on the same day apprehended five additional individuals, featuring a main perpetrator, in connection with this month's brazen Louvre museum robbery.

Dozens of investigators have been hunting four perpetrators who used a vehicle with a hydraulic lift and cutting gear to breach a first-floor gallery at the prestigious institution on the nineteenth of October, making off with jewelry valued at approximately 88 million euros.

In a separate high-profile case, thieves last month forced their way into the French capital's Natural History Museum, making off with gold samples worth over $1 million. A young Chinese female was apprehended in the current month in Barcelona, Spain in regarding the theft, officials confirmed.

The sequence of heists has generated apprehension in the country regarding inadequate security measures at cultural venues and other facilities containing precious artifacts.
