Shock as Beloved South African DJ Gunned Down in the City of Johannesburg.
A popular South African radio and club DJ has been shot dead in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country grappling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the forty-year-old media personality was confronted by a trio of assailants, with one began shooting at him before fleeing on foot.
The purpose of the attack has not been established and no suspects have been apprehended are in custody, police said.
Details of the Attack
Authorities said that Stock was ambushed as he was leaving a location in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had been present for hours at the building managing the implementation of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by squatters, it was reported.
"Authorities believe the man was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before fleeing the scene on foot," an official report said.
CCTV footage reportedly depicted a man with dreadlocks and dressed in what looked like a security uniform shooting on Stock before running away.
The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but collapsed on the opposite side of the road.
Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the incident.
Key evidence, like cartridges, were discovered at the scene.

Authorities have requested anyone who saw the event who may have seen the suspects to contact them.
"Evidence suggests they covered significant ground after the attack, and police have been attempting to locate them to establish their location," remarked an authority figure.
Outpouring of Grief
His family member, a close relative, said the relatives are devastated to process his death.
"I am in shock. I am shattered," were her words.
"It is clear he was a voice for many people. He spoke out bravely about topics not many people were willing to discuss. This is a profound tragedy."
She urged the citizens to refrain from sharing explicit content from the incident, noting this was an extremely painful time, above all for Stock's children.
His Professional Legacy
Stock was the presenter of Ngicel' iVisa, a reality show that premiered on a South African TV network.
Beyond his media career, Stock was involved in various entrepreneurial pursuits, including protective services, offering VIP protection services and protecting prestigious gatherings across South Africa.
He was also reportedly involved in property management and participated in building evictions.

His murder has caused national trauma and prompted an outpouring of tributes from his followers, the authorities and political parties.
A cabinet official said he was angry and saddened by Stock's killing.
"He spoke his truth boldly and honestly. He even criticized me and my actions as a minister. He was a true embodiment of who we should be," was his tribute.
A political leader stated the "brazen murder of DJ Warras in broad daylight is a shock for all South Africans".
A broadcasting director expressed that "Stock was not merely a TV personality. He was a skilled narrator, a true devotee of sound and a warm soul who brought happiness and vitality to every moment on screen. His commitment to his craft left an lasting impression."
In a statement, the network he worked for said Stock was known for his presence, approachability and intelligent commentary, adding that his influence "will live on".

South Africa, the region's leading economy, has one of the world's highest murder rates, driven by theft-related violence and syndicate wars, with some dozens of citizens murdered daily between April and September, based on official statistics.
