The City of Angels experienced widespread celebrations after the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched a thrilling seven-game World Series championship. Supporters across the globe joined Angelenos in celebration, marking the initial time in 25 years that a franchise has achieved consecutive championships.
Celebration Parade Attracts Massive Crowds
Los Angeles area celebrations featured a procession through the city center on Monday morning, a ticketed rally at the team's home stadium, and impromptu gatherings across the city.
Online footage depict thousands of Angelenos packing city center avenues, many displaying homemade signs and team flags. The team was seen riding high on a double-decker bus through the masses, hoisting the championship trophy proudly.
“My focus is already about the third time we’re going to do this,” Shohei Ohtani stated through an interpreter.
The procession path concluded at Dodger Stadium, where the players walked out to the rapper’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard providing music and the artist driving a light blue classic car around the stadium’s outfield.
Early Celebrations and Player Reactions
Festivities began prior to the procession, with Dodgers fans setting off fireworks in the streets of the city center on Sunday night.
The World Series MVP, named the World Series’ Most Valuable Player, commented directly about the win.
“We refuse to lose,” he said. “I love the Dodgers. This city means everything to me.”
Mixed Reactions and Community Spirit
However, the team owner was met with a less warm welcome at the celebration. Recordings from the gathering appear to show him walking onstage to a mix of applause and jeers, with jeers interrupting his speech.
The championship served as a bright spot in what has been a challenging year for Los Angeles. An approximate quarter-million people attended to the Dodgers’ victory parade last year, and according to Dodgers player one athlete, supporters this year showed equal or greater enthusiasm.
“I feel like it’s almost double from last year,” he remarked. “The supporters are incredible. It’s truly amazing to be a part of this.”
