Bills' Bay Day Gives Patriots Route to AFC East Lead - Highlights of NFL Week 10

Week 10 again delivered, with a huge upset for the Bills demonstrating the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' saying that draws so many people into the NFL
That result could have created things up for the Patriots to move back into a top spot they formerly held, with a schedule that gives them an advantage over their eight and two rivals
Meanwhile in the National Football Conference the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had perfect results to arrange a monster clash next week, while our player of the week is chasing records as well as the Most Valuable Player award
The Breakdown - Simply an Off Day for Buffalo?
Was it just an emotional letdown from defeating Kansas City last week or something more? This remains the question for the Bills to address
The Bills had secured seven victories in a consecutive games against Miami but were second best from the start as the Miami team emerged as 30-13 winners in an surprising result - and performance
MVP Josh Allen only got the squad's opening first down in the third quarter and initial scoring in the fourth - admittedly the Dolphins had ten days to prepare but it was nonetheless a significant failure produced by one of the league's top offences
Dolphins quarterback Tua passed for two touchdowns but rusher Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 combined yards and two scores
Containing the NFL's top rushing attack was also key, with James Cook and teammates recording just eighty-six yards, their fewest of the season and slightly more than half their 161.5-yard average
Then there were the three crucial turnovers, and the two from Josh Allen specifically. An pass caught by defense in the scoring area meaning a nine minute drive produced nothing, and his fourth-quarter dropped ball that the Dolphins turned into a touchdown just later
It was classic 'old Buffalo' as they hurt themselves in the foot, falling into a deficit on defense and Josh Allen trying to overcompensate to dig his team out of it - rather than the composed, disciplined, well-balanced Buffalo team we've seen this year
The Dolphins have served up a bit of everything this season so the verdict is uncertain on whether this is the beginning of a trend, but for Buffalo they'll require an instant response in a tough game against Tampa Bay in week 11 as the New England are quietly moving into a comfortable advantage at the summit of the AFC East
In Focus - Patriots Identify Route to Unexpected First Place
Regarding the Patriots, they're among three 8-2 squads in the league, all AFC teams, but could they be the top team?
One could pick holes in the Patriots, Denver and Indianapolis really for dominating the lesser sides, with only five of their combined twenty-four wins coming against teams with a winning record - and one of those was the Colts defeating the Denver
Denver defeated the champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are masters of the final quarter while Indy can rely on Jonathan Taylor, but the New England adding Sunday's win in Tampa to their primtime win in Orchard Park appears to be a declaration
Their two defeats came in new head coach Mike Vrabel's initial three games, with seven consecutive wins, similar to the Broncos, from that point - but defeating Mayfield after the Bucs had a week off to get ready was huge
Drake Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials continue to be discussed, and he certainly earns point for courage after taking some savage hits in Tampa but hanging in there to guide his team to victory
The defense is solid and rookie running back Henderson exploded on Sunday with 147 yards and two exciting touchdowns of 55 and 69 yards - becoming just the fifth different ball carrier to break 22 miles per hour this year on his initial touchdown
Although you can debate who 'the top team' is statistically, the Pats should be favourites to finish with the top record thanks to their schedule - which includes just a single matchup against a successful opponent, although a huge one against the Bills
Visiting the Ravens is also tough, but Denver have it even tougher in the AFC West with the Chiefs to face two times, the Los Angeles Chargers (who might also compete for top seed but encounter the same problem) and also the Packers on the fixture list
The Indianapolis also play the Kansas City, and have the Seahawks, San Francisco and two games with the five and four Jaguars to face. There is a considerable distance to go but the opportunity is open for a shock top seed in the AFC
Next Week - Rams & Seahawks Set for Next Week Clash
Two teams with solid claims to be better than all of the three different eight and two teams are National Football Conference West rivals the Seattle and Los Angeles, who each put up forty points to reach 7-2 ahead of next week's major meeting between the two in Los Angeles
They've both won four in a consecutive games, have signal callers in Matthew Stafford and Sam Darnold performing at an elite level (although Sam Darnold had ball security problems on Sunday) with top receivers, and defenses allowing fewer than twenty points a game
Each could easily be undefeated as too - especially the Los Angeles as their two defeats came in overtime against the San Francisco and then that agonising loss in Philly when they had a game-winning kick with the final play deflected and returned by the Eagles for a touchdown
Seattle also lost to the 49ers, with a last-minute score in the opening week, before losing to the final play of the game against the Tampa Bay - so they're truly among the best sides in the NFL
The next matchup on Sunday could be the best of the season so far
Top Performer - Taylor
Taylor might be on for a historic year after his remarkable performance in Germany - rushing for 244 rushing yards, scoring three scores and contributing an additional 42 {receiving yards
